Content Moderation Policy
Last updated July 31, 2026
In short. We use a mix of automated rules and human review to keep OrbitSub safe and useful. Some content is checked automatically as it’s posted; reports from users are reviewed by moderators. If we act on your content and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal.
This Content Moderation Policy explains how KARAN (“we”) moderates content on OrbitSub — what is automated, what is reviewed by people, and how decisions are made and appealed. It works alongside our Community Guidelines (which set the rules) and our Grievance Redressal Policy (which handles complaints and appeals).
1. Our approach
We aim to moderate proportionately and transparently. We’d rather guide people to get it right than punish honest mistakes, and we reserve stronger action for serious or repeated violations, or anything unlawful. As an intermediary, we are not required to pre-screen everything people post, but we act on our rules, on user reports, and on valid legal notices.
2. Automated moderation
To catch clearly harmful content quickly, communities can apply automated rules that check content as it is posted. When a rule matches, one of three actions is taken:
- Flag — the content stays visible but is added to the moderation queue for a human to review.
- Hold — the content is hidden until a moderator reviews and approves it.
- Remove — the content is rejected at the time of posting and not published.
Automated tools are not perfect. They can occasionally catch something harmless or miss something harmful, which is why human review and appeals exist. Where a person is significantly affected by an automated action, they can seek human review through the appeal process below.
3. Community rules
Communities on OrbitSub may set their own rules in addition to these platform-wide policies, to suit the topic and norms of that community. Community rules must be consistent with our Community Guidelines and the law. Community moderators may enforce their rules within their community; platform-level rules always apply on top.
4. User reports
Anyone can report content that may break our rules, using the Report option on research, comments, and profiles. Reports can be made for spam, harassment, hate, sexual content, violence, misinformation, copyright infringement, self-harm, or other reasons.
- reports enter a moderation queue;
- a moderator reviews the report and the content in context;
- the moderator then dismisses the report (no violation), removes the content, or suspends or bans the account responsible, depending on severity;
- you can also block a user directly to stop interacting with them, independently of reporting.
Please report in good faith. Abusing reports to harass someone is itself a violation of our rules.
5. What actions we may take
Depending on the content and the circumstances, moderation outcomes include:
- leaving the content up (no violation found);
- removing or restricting the content;
- holding content for review before it becomes visible;
- issuing a warning to the user;
- temporarily suspending an account;
- permanently terminating an account for serious or repeated violations, or anything unlawful.
Taking action on content is not an admission of legal liability and does not determine any underlying dispute.
6. Serious and illegal content
Some content is acted on urgently and without waiting for a report, including child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence, and other clearly unlawful content. Such content is removed and, where the law requires, reported to the appropriate authorities. Certain categories identified for expedited handling under the IT Rules 2021 are dealt with within the shortened timelines described in our Grievance Redressal Policy.
7. How to appeal a decision
If we remove your content, hold it, or act against your account and you believe it was a mistake, you can appeal:
- email team@orbitsub.com with details of the content or account and why you think the decision was wrong;
- a human will review the decision;
- we will respond within the timelines in our Grievance Redressal Policy (acknowledgement within 24 hours, resolution within 15 days);
- if you remain unsatisfied, the escalation options in that policy apply.
8. Transparency and fairness
Where practical, we will tell you what action we took and why. We apply our rules as consistently as we can, and we keep records of moderation decisions to help us stay fair and to comply with our legal obligations. Our moderation practices will evolve as the community grows and as we learn.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy from time to time; the current version and the “Last updated” date are shown here. Questions about moderation? Contact us at team@orbitsub.com.
