Data Deletion Policy
Last updated July 31, 2026
In short. You can delete your account at any time from Settings. When you do, your account and the content tied to it are deleted, and personal data is removed or anonymised within 30 days. A few things — contributions to shared spaces, copies others already made of published work, and records we must keep by law — may remain, and we explain those below.
This Data Deletion Policy explains how you can delete your data from OrbitSub, operated by KARAN (“we”), what happens when you do, and the limited exceptions where some data may be retained. It supports your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and should be read with our Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy.
1. How to delete your account
- Go to Settings and choose to delete your account.
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, so please export anything you want to keep first (see Section 5).
- If you cannot access your account but want it deleted, email us at team@orbitsub.com from your account email address and we will help after verifying your identity.
2. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we delete:
- your account and profile — email, username, display name, bio, and profile picture or avatar;
- your research and drafts that you own;
- your comments, likes, suggestions, and messages tied to your account;
- your AI interaction history stored in your research rooms;
- your saved sources and library;
- your login credentials and session data.
Deletion takes effect promptly in our live systems. Any residual copies in encrypted backups cycle out within a limited period, ordinarily up to 30 days.
3. What may remain, and why
A few things may not disappear entirely when you delete your account:
- Contributions to shared spaces. Comments you left on other people’s research, or suggestions you made that an author accepted into their work, may remain as part of that other person’s content — but shown as from a deleted or removed account rather than under your name.
- Copies others made. If you published research and others linked to, shared, quoted, or saved it before you deleted it, those copies are outside our control and we cannot retrieve them.
- Records we must keep by law. We may retain limited information where we are legally required to — for example, transaction and billing records for tax and accounting, or information needed to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or prevent fraud and abuse. We keep only what is necessary and for no longer than required, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
4. Deleting individual content without deleting your account
You don’t have to delete your whole account to remove specific content. You can delete individual research, drafts, comments, or sources from within the Service. You can also unpublish research to remove it from public view while keeping it as a draft. As above, copies others already made of published work are outside our control.
5. Export your data first
Because deletion is permanent, we recommend exporting anything you want to keep before you delete. OrbitSub lets you export your research (for example, to PDF, Word, or Markdown). If you need help obtaining a copy of your data, contact us at team@orbitsub.com.
6. Timeline
- Immediately: your account and the content tied to it are removed from the live Service.
- Within 30 days: personal data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised, including cycling out of backups.
- Longer, only where required by law: the limited records described in Section 3.
7. Requesting deletion under the DPDP Act
Deleting your account is the primary way to erase your personal data. If you have a specific erasure request or a question about your data, you can also contact us at team@orbitsub.com, or raise it through our Grievance Redressal Policy. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy from time to time; the current version and the “Last updated” date are shown here. For anything about deleting your data, contact us at team@orbitsub.com.
