Copyright Policy

In short. Respect other people’s work: only post what you have the right to post, and always cite your sources. If you own a copyright and believe something on OrbitSub infringes it, send us a notice at team@orbitsub.com and we’ll act on it. If your content was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice.

OrbitSub, operated by KARAN (“we”), respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This Copyright Policy explains how we handle claims of copyright infringement in accordance with the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. Your responsibility as an author

Because research builds on other work, copyright matters here. When you use OrbitSub, you agree that:

• you will only upload or publish content you created, or that you have the right to use;
• you will properly attribute and cite any third-party work you rely on — our citation tools make this straightforward;
• quoting or referencing others’ work is fine when done lawfully and with credit, but copying substantial parts of someone’s work without permission or a valid legal basis is not;
• you will not present others’ work as your own (see our Community Guidelines on academic honesty).

You are solely responsible for the content you post and for ensuring it does not infringe anyone’s rights.

2. Reporting copyright infringement (takedown notice)

If you are a copyright owner, or authorised to act on one’s behalf, and you believe content on OrbitSub infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to team@orbitsub.com that includes all of the following:

• your name, address, and contact details;
• identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed (for example, a link to or description of the original);
• identification of the infringing material on OrbitSub — a direct link to the specific research, comment, image, or file, so we can locate it;
• a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law;
• a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf;
• your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete notices may delay our response. Please submit only genuine, good-faith claims.

3. What we do when we receive a valid notice

• we will review the notice and, if it is valid, remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content, generally without delay;
• we will make a reasonable effort to notify the user who posted the content, and provide them a copy of the notice so they can respond;
• we act on valid notices as an intermediary; taking down content is not a determination of legal liability, and we take no position on the underlying dispute;
• we handle copyright complaints within the timelines set out in our Grievance Redressal Policy (acknowledgement within 24 hours, resolution within 15 days).

4. Counter-notice — if your content was removed by mistake

If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or that you have the right to use it, you may send a counter-notice to team@orbitsub.com that includes:

• your name, address, and contact details;
• identification of the content that was removed and where it appeared;
• a statement, made in good faith, that you believe the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification, or that you have the right to use it;
• a statement that the information in your counter-notice is accurate;
• your physical or electronic signature.

We will review your counter-notice and, where appropriate, may restore the content or forward the counter-notice to the original complainant. Where a dispute is genuinely contested between two parties, we may decline to restore or keep content down until the parties resolve it or a competent authority directs us.

5. Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, warn, suspend, or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe, or are repeatedly and credibly accused of infringing, others’ copyright. Serious or wilful infringement may result in immediate termination.

6. Misuse of this process

Copyright notices and counter-notices are serious. Submitting a knowingly false or bad-faith claim — either that content infringes, or that a takedown was a mistake — is a misuse of this process, may be unlawful, and may itself be treated as a violation of our Terms of Service.

7. Our own content

The OrbitSub platform, its software, design, name, and logo are our intellectual property or that of our licensors, as described in our Terms of Service. Nothing in this Policy grants you any right to use them without our permission.
