Community Guidelines

The short version. OrbitSub is a place to write and share research openly. Be honest about your work, be decent to other people, and keep it lawful. That’s most of it. The rest of this page just explains what that means in practice.

OrbitSub exists to help people write research and put it in front of others, beautifully. Whether you’re a seasoned researcher or a student writing your first real piece, you’re welcome here. These guidelines keep the community useful, trustworthy, and kind. They apply to everything you do on the Service — your research, comments, suggestions, messages, and profile — and they work alongside our Terms of Service.

1. Be honest about your work

Research runs on trust, so this is the one area worth taking seriously — but don’t worry, it’s common sense:

• Credit your sources. If you use someone else’s words, ideas, data, or images, cite them. Our citation tools make this easy — use them.
• Don’t pass off others’ work as your own. Plagiarism undermines the whole point of sharing research.
• Don’t fake it. Don’t fabricate data, invent results, or knowingly publish things you know to be false as if they were true.
• It’s okay to be uncertain. Research in progress, open questions, and honest “I’m not sure yet” are all welcome. Being wrong while trying honestly is part of research; being deliberately misleading is not.
• AI is a tool, and the work is still yours. Use the AI co-writer freely — but you are responsible for what you publish under your name, including checking anything the AI helped with.

2. Be decent to other people

Disagreement is healthy; cruelty isn’t. Treat others the way you’d want to be treated:

• No harassment or bullying — don’t target, threaten, or pile on to anyone.
• No hate — content that attacks or dehumanises people based on religion, caste, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar has no place here.
• Critique ideas, not people. You can strongly disagree with someone’s research and still be respectful.
• Respect privacy. Don’t post private information about others without their consent.
• Don’t impersonate people or organisations, or misrepresent who you are.

3. Keep it lawful and safe

Some things aren’t allowed anywhere on OrbitSub, full stop:

• content that is unlawful under Indian law;
• sexual content involving minors, or any child sexual abuse material — this results in immediate removal and reporting to authorities;
• sexually explicit or obscene material;
• content that incites or threatens violence, or promotes terrorism;
• content that encourages self-harm or suicide;
• infringement of others’ copyright, trademark, or other rights (see our Copyright Policy);
• malware, phishing, or anything designed to harm people or systems.

If you’re researching a difficult or sensitive topic academically, that’s fine — context matters, and studying something is not the same as promoting it. Present it responsibly.

4. Keep the platform genuine

• No spam — don’t flood the platform with repetitive, low-effort, or irrelevant posts.
• No manipulation — don’t use fake accounts, bots, or coordinated tricks to inflate engagement, followers, or rankings.
• No disguised advertising — don’t dress up ads or paid promotion as research.
• No misinformation designed to deceive — sharing genuine research you believe in is the point; deliberately spreading false claims to mislead is not.

5. Collaborating and suggesting

OrbitSub lets people write together in live rooms and suggest ideas to each other through the Orbit. When you collaborate or suggest:

• only submit text you have the right to share;
• make suggestions in good faith — to genuinely improve the work, not to derail or vandalise it;
• if you’re an author, you decide what to accept, and you’re responsible for the final result;
• credit is part of the culture here — the platform attributes accepted suggestions, so contribute generously.

6. Reporting and blocking

You help keep this community good. If you see something that breaks these guidelines:

• use the Report option on any research, comment, or profile. You can report for spam, harassment, hate, sexual content, violence, misinformation, copyright infringement, self-harm, or other reasons;
• reports go to our moderation queue and are reviewed — see our Content Moderation Policy;
• you can also block a user to stop interacting with them;
• please report in good faith — don’t abuse reporting to harass someone whose work you simply dislike.

7. What happens if you break the rules

We’d always rather help you get it right than punish you, and for minor or first-time issues we’ll often just remove the content or give you a heads-up. But depending on what happened and how serious it is, we may:

• remove or restrict the content;
• issue a warning;
• temporarily suspend your account;
• permanently terminate your account for serious or repeated violations, or for anything unlawful.

8. These guidelines will grow
