Every piece of research has a natural shape. Pick the right one and the reading takes care of itself. Here’s how we think about the four.
Study — when the method matters
Numbered sections, a formal abstract, serif typesetting. Choose a Study when how you found it is as important as what you found: surveys, experiments, data work. Readers can check your steps — that’s the point.
Essay — when the argument matters
Long-form prose with a drop cap and room to breathe. Choose an Essay when you’re making a case: one claim, built carefully, carried by writing. The format rewards a strong opening line.
Thread — when momentum matters
A connected chain of short posts on a numbered rail. Choose a Thread when the finding unfolds in beats — one idea per post, each earning the next. It’s the fastest format to write and the easiest to read on a phone.
Brief — when time matters
Takeaways up top, dense and scannable below. Choose a Brief when your reader is busy and your finding is practical: comparisons, postmortems, recommendations. If they only read ten seconds, they still leave with the answer.
